![]() the map is infinite as long as you keep unlocking.I like the art style, but not everyone will.Route management UI is very easy to use although some roadmap features (like fleet upgrades) will be welcome additions. the UI is very smooth and solves many of the issues with the older generation of logistics games, but this is really table stakes these days. The interaction of map/tech unlocks is my favorite semi-unique feature of the game. the research tree and region unlocking requires you to plan your order of execution of which regions you unlock and which technologies you start investing in.resources in your home region are sparse you have to pay to unlock adjacent regions, which each have generally 1 additional resource and 1 town.Personally I solidly prefer Voxel Tycoon over Rise of Industry. There are also some comparisons that could be drawn with Rise of Industry in terms of UI, graphics, and supply chains, or even Kingoms & Castles for art style. It has some great influences from Factorio, with conveyor-based factory automation and research which consumes significant resources. It basically plays like a lighter OpenTTD with modern controls and voxel graphics. I'm not close to fully unlocking the tech tree yet, but YouTubers seem to get there in anywhere from 10-60+ hours. From the roadmap, looks like it will be on Steam Early Access within a few months, but unlike most tycoon EA titles, this is one that you can play for at least dozens of hours already. This game is great and very playable now. TL DR: I recommend this game for anyone looking for a relaxing modern spiritual successor to RRT/OpenTTD/Simutrans. It's a good game that should appeal to many fans of traditional Tycoon titles. I'm surprised that the game has barely come up in discussion here in the past year. I've spent about 20 hours with it over the past week and really enjoy it so far. That is, unless, you like this because people will buy packs more often because they get NOTHING USEABLE.After keeping an eye on Voxel Tycoon for ages, I finally pulled the trigger on it. The rate you GET pieces should also be greater, just a coin cap on the new rails would be fine, or at least a way to get the specific rails you need that *isn’t* paying for it. True random is not fair in this kind of system, and straight pieces NEED to be more common. That means you’ll get twice as many corner pieces that are harder to use than straight pieces. ![]() Even once you get the track, there’s no guarantee you’ll be able to use it, because it’s completely random.ĭevs, there are 4 corner pieces, and only 1 vertical straight piece, and 1 horizontal straight piece. And because the coin limit to unlock a new track progressively increases, even those become unhelpful to speeding things up. And special events that grant extra coins only occur a few times a day if you’re lucky. Because of the scarcity of new tracks, connecting to new cities is very difficult after the first few hours of playing. But, that said, it is extremely difficult to progress in the game without buying rail packs. I really enjoy enjoy this game, it’s fun and actually very challenging on higher difficulties.
